Hey all, Im trying to get a box together to ship to a buyer on here, just curious as to what you all pay roughly per pound to ship?
Ive been doing some reading and it seems usually around .30-.40 cents a pound is about average.
Obviously it doesnt pay to ship items that bring lower prices than that. Trying to decide what stays and what goes.

Yeah my math was a little off. Looks more like .40-.50 a pound is more accurate.
Looks like I may be asking around locally about a few things.

My 18lb box went for $13.00
My 67lb box went for $29.60
But this was from Ind to Ohio.

we talk about prices.. you've to look at the whole perspective.. Box sizes.. Sure I can send 50lbs usps cost me 17.00 anywhere in the us... but that is large flat rate box.
so it really does depends on the box size..

I was referring to just a good ol fashioned box with a variety of PC parts in it. Obviously the high dollar items: motherboards, RAM, CPUs, finger cards, drive boards, etc are worth it to ship.
I appreciate all the replies so far. Im not looking to fill up a semi, just an old box from work that used to contain fountain cups

I get my boxes picked up at my house by fedex with a prepaid label. It usually averages out to .39-.43lb depending on how many boxes and how they are packed.
For me, the pick up charge is less than the fuel to drop them off.
The more boxes at once you send, the cheaper it will be over all
the closer to 70lbs in each box with fed ex, the better per lb you will be. I believe they do a complicated formula with a base rate, a size charge, and a weight charge. one 70 lb box is cheaper than 2 35lb boxes. A 69 lb box is slightly better per lb than a 65 lb box

I wouldn't ship power supplies. I've had trouble finding yards that would pay more than shred, then came across a couple that would do them as electric motor. Figure if you look around you can get .18-.25 is my guess. The obvious answer so far is to send as big a load as possible to get discounts. Memory and cpu's don't take much room to store, and prices are down now. In another post I mentioned where I shipped 10 medium size moving boxes totaling 600lbs using Uship for $160 ($0.26 lb). Just have to check around.

It is all relative. I can ship any sized package to my neighbor for free by walking it there.
Distance and size are very relevant here. However, we have pretty much determined that packages just under 70 pounds pack the best value from fedex ground no matter where you are shipping to.

So it costs you 4.5 cents per pound to ship? I am wondering what your are shipping, how much you are shipping at a time and from where to where are you basing your answer on?
I ask this because my best price has been about 23 cents per pound for two pallets from eastern NC to Northern Ohio. Thanks Mike.
