no Bear I separate all of the plastic/glass/metal. I live <1 mile from the dump and throw all the plastic in their recycle bin on the way to work. I found somewhere to sell the crt glass, I just need a few more tons of it first.

I agree some of the older ones are BUILT.I had one little guy that i spent about a half hour trying to take it apart.After about 5 min I was ready to finish it with the hatchet. Thanks to the archives here, I now know what a bad idea that would have been.

Make sure you do check with your local Goodwill store before going to drop off. I asked at mine before I had loaded the van, and was treated like a criminal for daring to ask about a recycling program the company participates in. Go figure. I know not all are like this but after dealing with my local one, I will always ask when it comes to GW.

Came across a total of 15 Tv's and 3 monitors over this past weekend, I'll be gutting them tomorrow, and adding to my stockpile for my road trip to a GW that will accept them, and not look at me like just I asked to snort meth off the fine mirror they are selling for 30 bucks.

What do you do with this stuff? The two on top came from a tv and monitor, and hold the red wire going to the suction cup. The bottom row didn't come out well, but the part on lower left was in an old gas furnace

Flyback transformer? I got a box of them and tried smashing one for the hell of it and it looks like a ceramic or hard plastic from what I busted so im kinda wondering myself as I was thinking it had copper in it.

i smashed it a few times too, but it didn't smash well, guess i'll just leave them on the board then. beginning to see a lot of it really isn't worth messing with for very long

hmmm, transformer? maybe i'll throw it in with those and see what happens

I hit one with the chop saw just to see what it looked like in there

that dark spot was pretty much a copper wound core

my recycling center takes tv and monitors, do you think they would be pissed if i came in with just the plastic frames and tv tubes?

Nice picture. I've only seen one beat up with a sledge. Let me ask you something. In the bottom half, you have a donut with an inner and outer dark ring, and a dark core in the lower section. Are all of those copper windings?

Check for a local FCI ( Fed Corrections Institute) several regional recycle facilities. They will take your glass... http://www.unicor.gov/recycling/ I know some folks have an issue with prison help to recycle but TV and Monitor glass is a stale mate..

thanks man, i believe the one nearest the bottom on that pic was plastic or ferrite, that row of pinholes all had copper running through them too
