Just looked at the trailer. It is roadworthy, but needs rubber. Bastard has all alu frame with 2 alu I_beams and cross-members. Only problem is all the cross members are riveted with steel to the I-beam as gus said. So counting a million rivets. Plus a huge steel plate for the fifth wheel. Thinking I'm passing...way to much work in 20 degree weather. Also with dual tandems and all the steel I saw, I doubt there is more than 5000 lbs aluminum, probaly less. So the guy wont hit his 2200 asking price originally at 60/40. Sucks, but not worth it.

think you can wait him out and get it for less?
Your seller reminds me of Boss Hogg and Sheriff Rosco..."Hey Little Fat Buddy, how we split 50/50?"
"Rosco you numbskull...80/20" "70/30...." "60/40 take it or leave it" :)

I always hate to be the one who rains on s materomebody' parade, but keeping it totally realistic on the 40 Ft., you are estimating 2000 pounds will be steel / iron, but it's been my experience on forty footer's that realistically it will be right around 3100 Lbs of Non-Alum. once you take everything apart, ie; fifth wheel plate, air-lines, misc. hardware, Dolleys, etc.
I wish you the best on this venture! It sounds pretty good.

Hmm..u say 3100 lbs? That leaves right around 6000 lbs clean aluminum. Thats right around 3300 cash for the alu...hmmm....
