So, pulled 5 monitors out of that abandoned sporting goods store. Was on a short time leash so I harvested all the good stuff out them in a half hour, leaving the CRT and the shell in the building. There was a sixth one, a big old Dell but when I ripped the shell off the entire thing had another shell of metal around it. Didn't have time to mess with it so I will go back and grab the whole thing. There are a lot of cables laying aroun also, video cables, phone cables, loud speaker etc. Need to check them out.
Those AL shells often times have several pieces attached that are maybe 2”x 4” with 4(?) fingers. Hit them with a grinder they are usually brass.
I must definitely go back and grab that one then. Learned a lot about time management on this site and another scrap blog. I was being very dainty with my harvesting which took me forever. I broke those 5 monitors down in no time with a hammer screwvdriver and garden shears. Thanks to all for the education. There are also a couple of big table top printers that I want to get out but I have read that printers aren't worth the time. Any thoughts? These are commercial grade printers.
there is a thread for that fnd.....just type in printers in the search bar in upper right corner and scroll down
Dee, I read through the printer threads already, which is where I read they weren't worth it, most of the time. Someone did write that the good lasers had boards and memory in them so i ripped off the back and voila! Boards and memory, that printer is now in my garage.
I learned fast from observing the forum to search first then ask.
Also look for smallish slots on the front, those are card slots for memory cards. Those printers have mid or high grade boards with memory.
