    Ewaste questions

I know scrap yards are all a little different but I was curious what general categories the following types of ewaste fall under.

Hard drive cases that have been stripped all the way down and have no stickers / etc. Do these fall under dirty aluminum? They have anodizing but other than that nothing is left on them.

Hard drive motors and read/write arms.

Computer cases stripped all the way down to metal and plastic.

And finally what do most yards say copper heat sinks are? Do they need to be cleaned of thermal paste?

    Thanks,

    Rob

Here at upscale and at most yards we deal with throughout new england use the following classifications:

Stripped Hard Drive Cases - Some yards are Cast Aluminum and some are dirty aluminum just depends on the yard, buyer, and there down stream processor
Computer Cases - Light Iron / Shred
Cu / Al heat sinks are classified as cu / al radiators at most yards in Maine but other yards / states may have a different class for copper / aluminum heat sinks including there own category depending on the yard and in some cases the buyer.

I cant comment on the hard drive motors / arms as we dont deal with them or know of any yards that buy them separate.

Here in LV clean HDD cases are taken as cast aluminum at most yards. HDD motors go as regular motors and no one local that I know of has a special price or category for the clean arms, just aluminum. Stripped towers consisting of both iron and plastic will go as tin/shred/light iron.
