    couple of questions

i was wandering what does everyone get for this type of aluminum:

    http://c.shld.net/rpx/i/s/i/spin/ima...arpen=1&qlt=85

is this extrusion? i have 11 caps, and 13 6 1/2 foot long square aluminum tube posts

i was wandering what the 5th line on the tape measure is its before the 1 inch mark yeah i know im stupid lol thats how thick it is and around they are 2 inch on each side i think its extrusion but not sure according to my scale it says 6.8 to 7lbs for one is that about right? if so i got about 90 some lbs give or take. i was wandering about copper tube cutters can i just get one and will it cover all the sizes? i asked the ac/heater guy he said i can get a decent one for 15 to 20 dollars is this true? what brand should i get? i think its gotta be easier then using a hacksaw to get the soldered parts off with less waste cause i get dust from the hacksaw and some of that thick crap is hard to cut through like say the copper tube from a water softner resin tank cause sometimes i have to use the hacksaw when the pipe wrench does not work.

what about red brass if i have some copper pipe inside from where i cut it off will that downgrade the red to yellow?

The posts should go as extrusions. The caps would probably go as sheet, unless your yard is willing to shoot them with an XRF gun.

    5 lines before 1 inch is 11/16ths.

A suggestion when your asking multiple questions - either number the questions or do seperate paragraphs. It is difficult to follow your posts.

Get a cordless sawzall. Don't worry about the little bit of copper dust you are losing.

Why would copper downgrade brass. Both red and yellow brass are made of copper, amongst other things. Copper is worth more than both red and yellow brass.

    For whatever it's worth.

Most of the copper pipe you get that has brass fittings attached will be either 1/2" or 3/4". A lot of times it will say right on the tubing cutter what size it's good for. Rigid brand is about the best brand for plumbing tools. You might look around in your area and see if you can find a place that specializes in selling used tools. It's a lot cheaper that way. (There are guys that go around buying out entire workshops from the widows of tradesmen that have died.) If a guy has been using a tool in his trade for 20 or 30 years then you know it's a good one.

Sawzall or metal cutting chop saw is probably the fastest & best way to process them though.

A trigger start propane torch would work if you want to get fussy about it. Just heat the solder joint and gently tap it apart with a hammer. Throw a little solder paste on there if it's being stubborn.
