    Power Supply w/ Gold Fingers

I know there is a lot of talk that usually it is better to sell boards and memory sticks with the fingers attached, but I have a few power supplies with large gold ( pretty sure they are gold ) fingers. So I'm thinking it would be better to remove the finger as opposed to getting power supply price for them.
    Any thoughts?
Edit: These are from the server equipment from local bank.

When i use to get van loads of servers, i would just cut the fingers off. Depending on your time, you could open it up and get the copper coils and alum heatsinks off. I would just cut the fingers off and the rest is shred.

Best I know you won't get the finger card price with all the coils, transformers and large capacitors on the rest the board. Will go as power board price with or without the fingers pretty sure.

I have to agree with JJ on this. There is nothing else on the board that would warrant the higher finger card price. Leaving the gold fingers on is a losing proposition.
Copper, brass, and Leather. 3 of my favorite things.

Back in April, I shipped a FTL, which included 4 gaylords of power supplies. Most of these, probably 99% (assuming they had wires to begin with) had wires on them. I also included at least 30 of this type of server power supply. I chose to leave them as is. I also included some AC adapters without wire. These were encased in aluminum, instead of plastic. My buyer lumped everything in as Power supply with wire.

Had I cut the gold finger off, these could have been graded as Power Supply without Wire. This is 8 to 10 cents per pound lower. On a 5 pound power supply, 40 to 50 cents different. Gold fingers are about $20 per pound. Does anyone know what these finger weigh? I'm not sure it is worth the time, if you can get PSU with Wire price for them.

$20 a pound seems low for trimmed fingers. Don't whole memory sticks go for between $6 to $8 a pound?
Since it's almost winter ( down time ) I think I will strip the boards of the cu, al and transformers and big caps and sell as a nice board. All upgrades. With shorter days and cold temps bench work is better than nothing.

If my calculations are correct, you would need about 12 to 18 fingers to get an ounce in overall weight.

A quality cut trim, with little or no green is $20 per pound in Ohio (mario).

You won't get alot of advice on fingers, nor things about plating and whatnot because it is such a niche very few people know what they are talking about and those that do are wasting their time explaining. The way I figure it on my end is if the finger doesn't improve the grading or reduce it if I remove it, I will probably trim it, otherwise the actual labor spent on the endeavor is 100% pointless. Oh and $20 is a safe margin, it has to be, because the vast majority of cut fingers are from things other than memory sticks and finger cards...so it's a total crap shoot whether it will be quality material or if the plating is barely vapored on. I have run fingers just to put off $15/lb before chemical costs...it is not a winning proposition on smaller scales. Maybe if you were on a production line where it was just part of the process...or watching netflix in the garage while it snows outside, then it's no big deal.

I might as well add we do not remove fingers to any refinable board, leaving only the odd low grade and power boards for trimming. When you start trimming stuff and taking ICs and whatnot your just asking for the next round of prices available to you to go down a bit. Anywho...I'm off to bed.
