    Cat converters

I need some advice from all you knowledgeable SMF members. I have an opportunity to purchase 8 or so Cat Converters. All of them came off Subaru cars/wagons. Probably a few came off WRX. I do not know much more than that. What is a good price I could offer for each and make some profit?

The numbers off the cats helps a lot.
    I only get a flat price of NZ$35 each, that's US$24.

From what I read, big diesels and European cars have the best cats

If they came off Subaru cars you'd be safe calling them kidneys or low grade foreigns. Depending on where you sell (most scrap yards aren't great outlets) they should be worth $50-$60. There are some worth more (that look almost identical) but you'd have to have a really honest cat buyer or really know your stuff to get that grading. Now, they usually come attached to a smaller cat (a pre). Those could be called a pre, a foreign pre, half a low grade foreign, etc. But it should be worth about $30 right now if you're selling to an actual cat buyer. Hope that helps!

Make sure they aren't aftermarkets or you'll lose your shirt!

Edited - just so you know I'm not full of it, I've bought 10s of thousands of cats. I'd be glad to help anyone not get shafted, it's real easy to be taken advantage of if you don't know your stuff.

I spoke with my cat buyer last week, prior to buying a junk subaru outback. The kidneys were between $60 and $80 depending on where, how many / if any O2 sensors. The pre-cat was about $30. Wish I could find those texts to give you a more accurate price.
