I see plumbing trucks at the scrap yard all the time. But there is no harm in asking what they do with there scrap. As prices are still down you just might get someone interested. As a business they want to control costs. You could market it to them this way...

Due to low scrap prices they may want to not spend there labor scraping these materials any longer.
They can still be a "green" company by having you do this service for them.
They can save the cost of disposing the items in there trash (if they were not recycling) if you were to help them they may need less trash pick up.
And even if they say no the person or persons you talk to might have contacts for you to get other jobs or even there own junk at there houses.

wow yeah it cant hurt to ask=) the most they will say is no. but yeah with the low prices they jsut might give me some thats what im hoping for anyway=) i took in some bb copper and got 2.00lb i dont get loads of copper just small amounts so i had 14 dollars not bad plus the other copper was #1 and i got 1.90lb and i got 19 dollars for that. i did quit taking cans they dont break down very well and they take up loads of space. anything else i can make smaller and cans have there limits to how small they will go lol. even car radiators i can make smaller and even big things of ali extrusion you can cut down with a hack saw lol. most of my work is labor intensive given that i use manual tools for most of it takes forever but when you have nothing but time=) i dont count my time as a factor=) took me 4 days to strip ten pounds of wire lol.

I will not respond to your post because you do not appreciate any of the advice you have received from this forum. I have been very successful with businesses, but will share my secrets with those that appreciate and respect the insight of others. I was able to negotiate with a major metropolitan electrical company and made enough money to pay for their Christmas party. Those that have tracked my threads will know where I pulled this off. Good luck. lol.

In my experience most established businesses save the copper for themselves and toss the steel. My dad was that way too for awhile. Although sometimes the steel they toss has good stuff in it that they dont know about. I dont usually ask businesses too much because im already running around so much I usually dont have time but those that I did ask thats usually been my experience.

You are correct, even worse than those that always take from the forum and never provide insight in their area of specialty or show appreciation. It is probably worse than the scrappers that live on welfare and do not pay taxes on their scrap. I try to treat individuals with respect, but will not hesitate to call individuals out either.

How most people or companies get the better scrap is a long term relationship . I have pick up many accounts by servicing other customers. Do a good job. Look and act like a business. Don't look like a meth head . You will pick up accounts by word of mouth. As far as plumbing places etc . Good luck . Most sell it themselves . Or have a guy . OR have five guys waiting in line to buy it.

Notice I didn't single you out...

But, yeah, that was kinda harsh.

I do understand where it comes from, though.

I hope the issue is that he's viewing the site on his phone and doesn't see that "thanks" button.

    S'all good, man!

PS... I'll be in the area of your avatar this August.... any eateries that only the locals know about that I have to visit?
