    Literal ton of lead

I recently acquired approximately 2200lbs of 3/4" lead sheeting from a nuclear plant. Dont worry, it's not rad contaminated so I'm not glowing or anything. My question is now, what do I do with it? Is this just soft lead scrap? Could this be more valuable since it is "nuclear grade"? I have pictures of the lot if that would help but cant upload since my attachment limit is so low. Local recycler's going price for soft lead is 0.52/lb. I am new to this so any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

First and foremost, you need to classify waste into reactive, flammable, corrosive and toxic. Virtually all homes contain hazardous waste like the paint, gas, antifreeze, oil, filters and oil, pesticides, chemicals. Aerosols, computers, cell phones, mp3 players, ammunition, syringes etc.
Disposing of such wastes in improper ways could pose a risk not just to the environment, but also to the public health.
In the case of lead sheeting you mentioned, I guess the most appropriate method would be to opt for community hazardous waste centers (http://www.gorillabins.ca/blog/how-to-dispose-of-hazardous-waste/). Often homeowners face the problem disposing of lead roofing and flashing. Ensure that they are kept separate. Dispose them as soon as possible(responsible disposal). There are many public facilities working on particular days to collect such hazardous wastes. Even community days are dedicated to the environment when you can dispose hazardous waste at specific sites.

Sell it for the $.52 for a quick flip (if that is the price they give everyone tell them you have a ton and they should be able to give you more) or sit on it for a while and sell it a little bit at a time to people that reload ammo.

Thanks for the reply's. Any advice is appreciated. I think I may just piece it off over time unless I find someone who wants it all. I got 0.70/lb on 100lbs yesterday. Seems to be more lucrative that way and it doesn't take up that much room.

would you price some to ship up to 49435?

I'd be down for a bunch if it works out, maybe even all of it.

PM me, or send an email to gearhead318@gmail.com

Cast some into fishing weights and sell to local mom and pop bait shops. You will get way more out of it that way even if you have to buy some casts.

Hey SyuzanVR, you might want to post an intro about yourself and stuff in the "Introduce yourself" thread and start by reading the "start here" thread. Just saying. Sorry to the OP, I didn't want to hijack the thread.

Fishing weights and bullets for me would bring the most profit. Fish, recreation, and wild meat for a lifetime.
