Got 3 Riding Mowers scrapping, Anything I should take off them for more money?

Well I recieved three riding mowers, and a Push mower while scrapping, The push mower turns over so my dad knows a guy who'll give me 10 bucks for it cause he rebuilds them. But I'm not to sure on the Riding Mowers, The one's a Murray, which is blaitantly a piece of crap lol, the other is a Toro Wheelhorse which my dad actually has a really good Wheelhorse in our shed, and then I forget what the other one is, but the guy said it ran last time he tried it, and its been in a shed ever since so it might have a possibility. So any advice on what to take off them for more scrap value and or resale value?? Thanks in Advance guys!!

if you can't fix them up yourself, take them by your local small engine repair and let them have a look. I got an old Snapper single 30" blade with 8hp motor not too long ago, and before long i had the battery charged, the tires aired up, and the motor running. I've been using it to cut weeds that are over my head, dang that thing was built

If you were local to me, I would certainly take a look. Old riders are sometimes collectable and people regularly restore them. My daily driver rider is a 1989 model Craftsman, and I keep it running by scavenging parts off of other machines. Check out MyTractorForum.com and post up what you've got, you might be surprised at what still has value, running or not.

Meh. $200 certainly sounds good, but I have gotten complete running tractors for as little as $50. I would be more flexible in terms of price than a one-size-fits-all approach like this. A little research will help determine what he's got and what it's worth. People routinely sell running, driving complete tractors for $300 on CL, and can typically be talked down a bit from there, so I think $200 is a mite bit high.

I have a local guy that I drop mine off to and if he thinks they are worth fixing and reselling he does all of that then gives me a cut. If he doesnt think they are worth it then he calls me up and I pick them back up for scrap.

If your going to scrap them pull the motors off and drain the oil out of them, you can sell the motors to the scrap yard as irony aluminum. Well at the yards I use buy them anyway.

Here in Fl riding mowers like Murey only go for about 100 not running. Don't list to high on craigslist. You want to move them fast. Get moving lawn season is almost over.

It IS over here. I've already started holding on to em for spring. Actually started a while back, even though I was still mowing mine another time or two. Gonna wait until somebodies grass is getting out of sight ; )

Scrappers get paid were they live . I have found the yards in the upstate ny area are always less then other places . Now if you live here you would soon get used to it and it would become your normal way also. Figure this - I am 275 miles from a port and much of our scrap goes over seas. So who do you think takes the loss Not the yards they pay what is calculated for the area we live .
The advantage by me is for the most part 99% if it's at the curb it's yours the police home owners care not . Dumpster diving alive and well police will just drive by. appliances by the curb free to take .
I found in NYC Queens (the city) 275 miles from me if you get caught taking curb appliances $2000 fine . they have code enforcers .

What are the rules in your part of FL - - As FL is a long and big state from City to Rural to Sea Shore.??
Funny thing 9 years ago 2 choices as to where to live Spring Hill FL cause my wife parents lived there (in winter) but we heard the schools for kids had less to offer so we stayed in ny area but went where housing was reasonable
