what to do what to do

So my neighbors father pasted away a month ago, and they were cleaning out the garage the other day. They were tossing out stuff in a dumpster, nothing really worth asking about or would it even be right to ask. Any way, she approached me and asked me about my brother inlaw ( she knows he's a veteran) if he can give these veterans grave markers to the rightfull place. I'm talking box's full, about 6 box's, maybe about 20 or so in each box, solid brass. They are not stolen, but she don't know where they came from. I see a nice pay day in scrap but #1 I don't know if you can scrap them with out getting arrested on the spot or if the yard would even take them. And # 2 is it even right of me to think that way. My brother inlaw said he isn't sure where to take them to turn in and how would you know if someone else wouldnt scrap them. What to do, any thoughts? Maybe just let them worrie about them.

Are the markers the medallion kind? The VFW had one attached to the wall stone where my grandfather is buried. Maybe that's what they are for if they are those type????

Call your local VFW post to set up a drop off. If there is anyone that knows the proper use/disposal it is them.

Yes it would be wrong to scrap them. Definitely contact the VFW and they most likely will use them for our veterans.
If it wasn't for the $ in $crap, it would just be.....

They are the ones that go into the ground and my brother inlaw already asked one of his fellow vet friends about it and he said the v f w will take them. I will tell my neighbor to call and drop them off. Thanks guys

Or an American Legion post also, I think the yards will alert someone when a bunch of grave markers come walking into their yard.
