$120 per unit and where to get em.

google "pool heater". You'll be able to snag these units like crazy in the spring. As a bonus, they have a fair bit of pool pumps for you.
You can approach pool service and sales guys now and see if they have leftover scrap pool heaters. At the very least, you'll be setting yourself up for the spring.
These pool heaters are well worth the time and effort.
P.S. Some pool heaters come with brass manifolds instead of cast iron manifold. In that case they will worth $165 each. They all come with #2 copper pipes there usually nine on each and they are 18 inches long.

Hope you all like the info.

All swimming pools with a pool heater. Usually outdoor pools, both inground and above ground have them.
installers will call you to pick them up also on site.

We have bought a few pools in the past, but I don't ever recall heaters. Just the pumps to keep the chemicals flowing to keep the water clean.

I have heard about something in regards to pools being worth a good penny (figure of speech).

I have also heard that depending on the side, that above ground pools that are aluminum are worth a few hundred dollars just for scrap alone.

What size are the pool heaters are you referring to that brings in $120+

divapickers, thanks for posting this. I'm going to get in touch with the plumbing and pool companies in my area. Here in BC Canada, every pool has a heater.

These pools are real pools not like the throw away pools you can buy at Walmart and Kmart.

I take it the heaters you are referring to are the gas fired type. Here in the semi tropics they use a lot of the heat pump heaters. They are like a central air conditioning system only running in reverse. I have yet to scrap one but I would love to!

I didn't say that they were. I already know that those do not come with one. Those are strictly meant for summer and not winter.

Another source for copper would be the motors for hot tubs/jacuzzi's.

I see a lot of jacuzzi's and piano's for free - Are they worth picking up? Any idea what a piano would net $ and or a jacuzzi?

We have been patiently waiting for someone to come along and tell us just how much a person can get from scrapping a piano. Thanks for volunteering your time, you have till the end of the week and remember...keep your back straight and lift with your knees.

Here in South Florida most pools have heaters I am not sure of there functional capabilities, but i have scraped quite a few. They look just like a 4-5 ton a/c unit with one big difference they have a large white plastic hook up for the water that sticks out of the bottom of the unit they have a compressor and a smaller dryer pump. There is a lot more copper lines than a a/c but the real cherry on top is the copper ring that the water flows thru,if you are familiar with a water cooled a/c unit there ring are nickle copper witch is magnettic, the pool heaters ring are soild copper thick copper rings the ones that i have done weigh the rings only 40-60 lbs of copper I pay 150.00 each and double my money or better, the pool heater guys know what they are worth so dont low ball them, hey like the 150.00 because the dont have to do the scraping witch they know how to do I have one company that save up five or six then they call me I love when i see the pool companys name on my caller ID P.S. i all most forgot they have a double copper alluminum coil averages 80 lbs Good Hunting.

I scrapped a small one over the summer. I payed $40 for it. the copper was worth about $60, then there was the copper alum fins, and various other stuff.

because like anything else, they could have started making them differently to save on costs and now be worth a lot less.
