    storage auction

I have gotten about 10 calls in the past 2 weeks from people who do storage auctions and they have had quite a bit of electronics. On top of that a couple of them have even been handing out cards for me to other auction buyers. Just a thought of where to try and get a few customers

I think that is a great idea. I have attempted to contact scrapers advertising on craigslist but no bites yet. I'm not sure why a scraper would not like to sell at higher than shred price or maybe they just don't run into that much electronics. I will try to find some of the auctions and hand out my card there, it might work. Mike.

I buy storage units myself and not only do I get my own stuff to scrap but I also get the other auction buyers.

I got into scrapping from storage auctions. Been doing it for a few years now. Sometimes the scrap is what makes or breaks a unit. My pay phone unit I bought is still turning money in scrap. Now, most of the other buyers will sell me their busted computers so they make a little money.

The website is organized by the auctioneer on "wars" California and I was going to get into buying here in Chicago area, lots of auctions around here, but after about a month of auctions and watching people paying way too much and the over bidding, I scrapped that idea. No pun intended

I agree. Lots of people watching several auction TV shows have resulted in many "weekend warriors" trying their hand at these auctions expecting to find the Queen's Jewels and overpaying for junk. Same rule of thumb applies to these as applies to online auctions, know what you are buying and what it's worth. I have done far better going to small auction houses for weekly auctions. A lot of box lots for a dollar or two and little interest in old electronics has done well for me.

A lot of people these days are finding storage units online through auctions. Storage auctions are increasingly growing in size and competition. If you want to buy storage units one of the first places you should look is online.

I've tried several storage unit auctions. No luck. Every unit seems to have at least one TV (which I don't want any) and a mattress/box spring (which goes straight to the dump). Haven't found even one worth bidding on. I have pretty good luck at estate auctions and yard sales.
People may laugh at me, but that's ok. I laugh all the way to the bank.
