    organic vapor cartridges

I was talking to my brother the other day who does safety training and risk assessment for companies. We touched on the subject of my half face respirator that I use sometimes for working with strong chemicals and their vapors. I didn't realize that once the cartridge is removed from the packaging it starts working filtering on its own just with air moving around it. So the new cartridges that I only used for two hours six months ago could be bad already. So I upgraded to new organic vapor cartridges with an esli which is an end of service life indicator on it that changes color when it's dead. otherwise I might not know if my cartridges are working or not until it's too late. Just thought I'd share. Hope it helps someone. Be safe.
