Don't forget the nut and bolt holding the marble base to the trophy base. That'll up it to $.02

    TO ALL:

my apologies as this thread went from a mere asking of an opinion to apparently bashing one another. Never my intentions.

I also apologize for not replying sooner. As everyone knows, I was dealing with a lot of tear downs, and dealing with 2 deaths/funerals.

The trophies are not plastic. This much I know. They are a metal (either aluminum or cast aluminum), also, the only thing metal on them so far has been the bolts. Will be tearing the rest apart tomorrow, and taking them in on Monday and will let everyone know the winner (so to speak).

What bashing Geo? Just remember marble and plastic is not scrap metal.

The ones you say are metal are most likely pot metal with a shiny electro plating to make them look expensive.

"Today, trophies are much less expensive, and thus much more pervasive, thanks to mass produced plastic trophies."

"While trophies traditionally have been made with metal figures, wood columns, and wood bases, in recent years they have been made with plastic figures and marble bases."

    Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trophy

Picture one has marble bases, so possibly a plastic/resin figure. Picture two has a metal base, so possibly a metal figure. Either way they are 99.99% not going to be made of anything special. Even the Oscar statues are made of gold plated Britannia metal, which is 93% tin...
I know lying is wrong, but if the elephant man came in now in a blouse with some make up on, and said, "How do I look?" Would you say, bearing in mind he's depressed and has respiratory problems, would you say, "Go and take that blusher off you mis-shapened elephant tranny?" No. You'd say, "You look nice... John""

Sorry for the very late reply guys and ladies. As you all now, we had a death in the family, and then 2 weeks later, we had another one unfortunately. Between that, and getting swamped, I have been more than busy.

The trophies were made of 4 materials. 1. Cast Aluminum. 2. Aluminum. 3. Metal, and 4. Marble.

I had 20 lbs of cast and regular aluminum as my yard takes it both as aluminum. The metal itself was maybe 2 or 3 lbs, and then of course the marble.

Also, my apologies for taking your guys's jokes as bashing.

Hope you all had a pleasant weekend.

George, glad to see your back, I was afraid the "bullies" had run off another member. Sorry to hear about the deaths in the family.
