Christmas lights: clipping off or not?

    Hello fellow recyclers,

This is the period of the year when Christmas lights are one of the items you find at the curb more often.
My question for the more experienced is simple:
    - Is it Ok to clip the lights and save the insulated copper wire for more value?
    - Does the yards accept pieces of wire 2-3 inches long?

Thank you in advance and a Happy Metallic New Year for everyone!

Snipping the bulbs or not depends on what your yard is paying for each. Your yard might pay the same either way or might pay more for the bulbs cut off. I'd call them and check

Your yard will probably accept wire at any length. They usually strip it or send it somewhere to be stripped and re-melted or something. It's not like they re-use it
There's nothing more fun and more effective than hitting something repeatedly with a sledgehammer

As for me I tend to just sell as is, I think my yard gives the same price either way.

Not if you put it in with your other insulated wire. I do for some of them...if the lights are more than 4 inches apart.
