Brass ends on fired shotgun shells

Has anyone tried to scrap these? If so, what does your yard count them as and what were they paying? I see these time to time and wonder if they are worth accumulating.

Some yards will take them as dirty brass. Some yards dont like spent shells of any kind.

I guess I need to call the yard I mainly do business with. Just wondering if anyone had any experience with them.

Turn them into something else & sell them, buttons, ear tubes, jewelry etc.

most new shotgun shell hulls(1980's on) are brass plated steel, test them with a magnet thats why when you go to range all the hulls on the ground are rusted.

    Good luck

i reload shotgun shells. depending on the brand and size of the shotgun shell, they CAN sell for up to .15 EACH. that is a bit more than the scrap value. if you know any skeet or hunting clubs in your area they will always have somebody who reloads around them. another idea is to try selling them on a reloading or gun auction web site(auction arms and gun broker are 2 i like). also somebody on a shooting or reloading web site may be willing to pay more than scrap for them. if they are still in reloadable condition. just a few ideas...

I am saving my shotgun shells for scrap too. Would like to sell like shootsitall said but some of the old ones plus ANY damaged brass from my other firearms with cracked casings, stepped on, etc, are all getting scrapped.

Yards will only take them if you have removed the primer ( just use a punch of whatever) I also cut the plastic off. Make sure its brass as most of them are not.
