    Experienced Advice Needed

I am bidding on a project. Project is sizeable and in the US.

    Project volumes for scrap:

    5000t of iron
    150t of copper
    150t of stainless

What is the best resource site for spot prices and to classify the scrap that is on the project. Reason being, I have a scrap yard prepared to buy, but I want to run his rates next to the market?

    Eagerly waiting for replies. Thanks,

Where are you and what is your usual line of work?

This must be a joke! If you plan on bidding on such a lot one would assume you would at least have been able to find spot prices.

No, it is no joke. I figured I would attract replies like that. I am in construction and an estimator for a company turning 20M+ per year. Demo is not our usual line of work, BUT, considering the sensitivity of the project located on a mining lease, it isn't no wrecking ball, det cord situation. It will be heavy on the safety and enviro extreme. If any of you know MSHA, you'll know what I mean.

NOW, I have a scrapper ready to take the tonnage, but as I stated, I need reliable sources of spot prices to A) classify the scrap, B) compare his ton prices on volume against a legitimate market

I am not experienced at scrap, I build things, but considering this is the best place on the web for scrap, I thought I'd try.

I tried the app. It is not free long and there is a large, and I mean VERY large, sign up fee. The app was not very good as well as it didn't have three yards that are within 20 miles of me. You would not happen to be another Rockaway employee would you?

I didn't know there was any other scrap metal forums around. This one is the biggest and best(dysfunctional and all).
I tried to google it once and this is the only one that came up.

I always look here even though local prices are not as high. It seems to be a good indicator of what the market is doing.

I know if i owned a 20+ Million dollar company and was bidding on such a large project, i would expect my employees to be able to get better advice on my multimillion dollar investments than just asking random strangers on some forum.

    Have you called local yards?
    Done a google search?
    Called yards in other states?
Compared shipping vs rates to see if a 5 cent more in scrap from out of state would be worth it?

Theirs a lot of tools out their and asking strangers to do your work for you seems like you either
1, you dont want to work for your current employer
2, You dont like your employer / boss
    3, all of the above.
