    Question Last Copper Question

Just a simple one. Muchly appreciated for any cooperation on helping me!

    Basically,

Why are certain coppers different colours to others.

For example I have 2 balls of copper below. One on left is darker than the shiny one on the right? Does the right one have some kind of casing because if I scrape it, it becomes shiny like the left one

    Explanation please?

The wire might be burned. Where did it come from.

If it is from a motor or transformer, it might be coated with varnish (electrical insulation). Or it may just be slightly oxidized.

I don't think it is burned and I found it down the woods in a motor.

Okay thanks, it may indeed be varnish. Sounds more promising than the oxidization. Do you know if the copper is coated in varnish it will sell for less?
