    Door knobs

    What are these door knobs made of? They don't stick a magnet so not steel, way to heavy to be al, they don't spark so there not ss, and there not brass colored. My guess is zinc if someone could confirm i'd appreciate it. Thanks

    I want to say brass. I had some from an old farm house that was brass.

    they sure look like brass - how deep did you buzz it to check the color?

    Sorry guys here is a better pic. I buzzed em deep enough to see the true color.. its not brass :/

    Ask your friendly neighbourhood scrap dealer whether it is brass. But be careful! One place I have dealt with will try to spin you a story about reinforced aluminium door knobs and beat you down on price!

    I put them in with my dirty brass, as normally die cast zinc under a sheet of brass

    I touch them to a grinder..if they are brass but have tin on the back end it goes in with the dirty brass for about .40/#

    some with a handle sticking out are die cast..if they have tin on them they go in my dirty aluminum
