    Nonworking machines

Would it be more beneficial to sell my nonworking vintage dirtbike to a collector or a scrapper? It's been outside forever but could become operational again with minimal effort.

Also would a large and heavy cast iron furnace be worth it buy for $20. What about an old camcorder?

If it is easy to make it running again, I don't know if you place an online classified or move it to your front yard with a sign, someone will give you as much as the other options. I've seen some motor bikes on the scrap heap, but some u-pull part places buys them probably for a better price (more often, those specialized in motor bikes). Camcorder, not worthy, unless you get it for free and you do e-scrap. The $20.00 furnace: you 400 lbs at 5 cents / lbs to get $20.00. Also, outdoor fire pits are often discarded curbside (for free!!!!) in my area.
NEW TO SCRAPPING? READ THIS: Build up your horde of magnetic and non-magnetic metals in two piles until you have a better understanding of the business. Magnetic material has low value and is mostly always steel / shred / short iron. Read old threads about non-magnetic metals and ewaste (and how to sort them), but don't forget that they generally have absolutely no tolerance for contamination (screw / iron / foreign material).
