Stainless steel sinks with glued stuff

What are the kind of patches glued to stainless steel sinks? I currently have one with 6 3x3 in square tiles glued with some tar-like glue all around the outside. It is not done for patching and it looks like 1970's floor tiling when I try to remove them. Do the yards will tolerate them or I need to scrap them off?

NEW TO SCRAPPING? READ THIS: Build up your horde of magnetic and non-magnetic metals in two piles until you have a better understanding of the business. Magnetic material has low value and is mostly always steel / shred / short iron. Read old threads about non-magnetic metals and ewaste (and how to sort them), but don't forget that they generally have absolutely no tolerance for contamination (screw / iron / foreign material).

Never had any issues here, I get clean price for them at all 3 yards i ever used. Even the Stainless Tubs from dishwashers with all that black stuff left on them after removing the steel and plastic. Guess it depends on who their buyer is

Yeah, that's what i would get clean SS for. Shouldn't have to worry about those or the ones with what looks like spray on truck box liner on the bottom.... But all yards/areas are different.

I believe those patches are for sound proofing the sink somewhat.

i have found that banging the area where that black stuff is, on the opposite side with a claw hammer, will easily remove most of that gunk.
