    Copper oxidation?

Hi all! I apologize because I'm sure this is somewhere in the forum but I can't seem to find it. Picked up a 65lb roll of copper tubing today that has some very light oxidation (as seen in the picture). In your experience is this enough to knock it from no.1 to no.2 and, if so, can I fix it? By that I mean can I sand it down slightly? Would that be removing the flaw or just hiding it, by that I mean am I actually fixing it if I do that or just being unethical and scamming? I'm not knowledgeable about the actual chemistry. My (mis?)understanding is that oxidation takes place over time, level by level. So skimming off the spots should be actually removing the oxidation which, in this case, means about a $20 difference for something I should be able to knock out pretty quick. Many thanks in advance!

The yards around here accept it as # 1. Oxidation only comes into play when trying to sell as bare bright. I cannot help you as far as removal, but an entire roll has more value than scrap.
Give back more to this world than we take.

Could be. Throw it on CL and see if you get some bites. Copper isn't in real demand as it was years ago, though, but you may get lucky and find a moonshiner that needs a coil.

The person I bought it from already had it on Craigslist for almost a month. Hadn't thought to search CL just for metal not being sold as scrap until recently.

Should clarify that there are some yards around here that pay as little as $1.80/lb for number one.
