    JOhn deere battery charger gold?

I've got a dead John Deere 12v Battery charger, model ty25865 with a decent sized transformer in it. The transformer itself is separated into 3 parts as far as the windings go, the top about an inch tall of gold colored windings, the middle about 3/8" tall of copper colored windings, and then the bottom about an inch tall of copper colored windings. Are those top windings gold/gold plated?

I think it would safe for me to say No. Gold is used in situations where data integrity is important. The gold colored windings are most likely aluminum with a yellowish varnish.
