    Need Help Identifying an Item

Hey guys and gals. I was hoping somebody could tell me what this is?

Found it on the curb tonight but I have no idea what it is. The outside is made of really thick plexiglass but inside has a heavy transformer and a bunch of wire. There's also pretty thick wire running off the side of it. Sorry for the crappy pic quality, kinda dim in my living room

I have no idea what this is but it looks cool. Does it have any cords coming out of it? I assume a power cord but is there wiring to go to something else? Is it sealed on all sides?

Was it a residential curb or a business curb? Looks a bit like a sodium light transformer but they are usually included in the lighting housing.

Part of a well made but homemade power supply. Interesting, but I would scrap it.

I don't know what it is, but being encased like that makes me think RV camper stuff. Check the transformer for 12v input and AC output. Whatever this is, you should probably check that same curb area as often as you can.

Yea there's a bunch of wire coming out the one side of it..What I think is the top isn't sealed off. That's the only open part of it. Bwtween the transformer and close to a inch thick plexiglass it probably weighs 75lbs

This was just a small portion of what they threw out before they moved. Got over $100 worth of fishing gear, some tools still in cases and over $150 worth of working exercise equipment plus a bunch more odds and ends

Looks like it could be for a tesla coil, jacobs ladder, some mad scientist experiment or an anti theft device for your scrap metal pile.......

    Need Help Identifying an Item

Sorry guys, phone has been acting goofy lately. I tore off a strip of velcro that was on the side that has 2 holes with wire coming out and by one hole it says "power" written with a black marker and the other it says "light".
It's been pretty tempting to tear it up but I haven't yet. Figure as weird of an item as it is I'd rather wait til I find out what it is lol

    Need Help Identifying an Item

I just showed the picture to a buddy of mine that works in the medicinal field in Michigan and he says it's definitely a light ballast and it's 1000w. Also said my neighbor was probably using to illegally grow things lol

Quite interesting to say the least lol. I also found a Baldor 1/4 hp 1725 rpm motor at the same place that day. Wondering if that somehow was connected to whatever the ballast was used for
