Stainless Steel Buffet warmer worth it?

I am new to scrapping, I currently came across a 5 eye buffet warmer for 200. I am wondering if anybody has ever scrapped one of these and could give me a round about weight or if it will be worth the money. Thanks.

Their value really varies by model. You are not looking at something that will scrap out at 200.00+. If you have an outlet you often can get more in resale, but it's still more than I would want to be in it. I buy my commercial equipment at auction in the 20-50.00 range. You really need to be careful with commercial equipment, while it's often all nice and shiny, many times only part of the steel is going to get you stainless at the yard, a lot of the steel is low grade stainless and magnetic.

I don't think I would pay 200.00 for it. It seems to be small, only a 5 eye warmer and to many unknowns, like how many lbs is it, is it gas or electric, whats wrong with it,ect. If it is in good working order you might be able to sell it to a restrant supply place for a little more than 200.00 but for scrap I would not pay that much for it.

Restaurant equipment: if you can get it for free or little cost, take it. If they're asking going rate, leave it. Chances are they're looking to cover cost.

On GRF there has been a lot of discussion about a stainless steel silver cell used for silver refining. Something like this might be converted for use in an application of that nature. Do you have pictures, and if it can be converted I might be able to tell you, then you can post on GRF in the correct area and maybe get some bites from refiners interested in converting your buffet warmer to a stainless steel electrolytic cell.

I am assuming of course that this is a large stainless steel container with a drain in the bottom? Or am I way off?
