    well, they have brass components... but it might not be worth your time to remove them. if the hammer wont work, and you dont want to waste a grinding disc, then shred seems acceptable to me. i would just lock something with it. whether its mine or not, i'd just slap a lock on it

    If you have the keys they should be brass. Some older locks will have a brass body. Otherwise hangit up, put some rounds down range and see if they still are as tough as they claimed in the commercials.

    Use it to lock up a tool box. Also makes a good bike lock.

    If it's steel it gos in shred, if it's brass it gos in dirty brass. Stick a magnet to it.
