Depending on where you're at, you might have a local auto core buyer in your area.

If you have the older style compressors that are all steel like the one pictured below they have little value and I doubt you would find a core buyer that would be interested in them. If the core buyer was interested in a compressor like this I doubt he would give you more than you could sell it yourself for shred. If your compressors are like this I would throw them in with your next load of shred (tin).

If you have either of these type pictured below you could possibly find a core buyer that would purchase them. If you don't have a core buyer you could sell them for aluminum breakage to your local yard, which should be a better price than shred. These normally weigh about 15 pounds to give you and idea of what they would be worth if you sold them for breakage.

Key City was right on the money,a little tip try to turn the compressor wheel to the right you should hear a noise that sounds like vacum pumping. if the wheel is free spinning the core buyer might be a buyer, depending on the type of compressor it is.I had a lot of dealer ships as customers and the core buyer came to me every two weeks he would go thru what he wanted he paid $20 each for some $30 for some and $12 for others, what were frozen went in barells for scrap the price was generaly .35-45 a pound a little tipbit starters,a/c compressors and the graddaddy the altanators .55-.65 a pound depding on market of copper. Those blind iteams are where the money is,just my .02

Thanks for the info. Next load of shred they go. They are from the 70's and look KeyCity's first picture.

Inside the electric clutch, which is inside the pully, theres a nice winding of solid copper wire.

You have to take the pully off, then burn out the resin thats locking the copper wire in there. Then clean the copper wire out & sell it. Not sure what the weight is, (one Lb?)
