Price of TIN VS. Iron $$$

Do you sell your tin as iron, or do you seperate? If you seperate, whats the difference in price between the two you have been getting?

Yes, some yards call it "light iron" (less than 1/8").
People may laugh at me, but that's ok. I laugh all the way to the bank.

I seperate as much as possible and when it makes sense time wise. Get docked if too much tin in prepared. Sold on January 13, 2012. 200/ton on unprepared/tin; 260/ton on prepared. Prepared in this yard is 18" x 3' or smaller

Oh, I see now. It's that yard "slang thang" again. My bad. I try to separate my iron (sheet metal/tin, light iron, prepared/short iron) as much as possible. Not sure on current prices at the moment, but it's usually a pretty decent difference.

The yards I go to in Nebraska pay the same price for tin as they do unprepared steel so it all goes in the same pile for $205 per ton right now.

I have a small pile collected here but I just don't find it in Denver like I do elsewhere. But at $265 it doesn't take much for a decent check. Thanks for the info!

    Haha, that's why I asked.

I look out on eBay and sometimes pick up a few cheap organ pipes when i can be bothered.
A lot of them are a Tin/Lead alloy but sometimes they are all Tin.

These are what i go for http://www.ebay.com/itm/Pipe-organ-t...item4600569e23
Doesn't take many to get a heavy load!
