Both the large yard and the feeder yard are about the same on prices.

    #1 Iron prepared 2x5 120.00 $ a ton
    #1 Unprepared 80.00 $ a ton

There's usually a seasonal increase at our gas station. It starts going up in the spring and then levels off and stays unchanged through the summer.

They broke the pattern this year. The price did go up to 3.00 $ a gallon but then started dropping again.

Two weeks ago ... price drop to 2.90 $ a gallon.

This week ... another ten cent drop to 2.80 $ per gallon.

    Today in the Montreal area:
    - Shred is CDN 150 / mt (USD 106 / ton)
    - Gas is CAD 2.149 / liter (USD 6.20 / gallon)
NEW TO SCRAPPING? READ THIS: Build up your horde of magnetic and non-magnetic metals in two piles until you have a better understanding of the business. Magnetic material has low value and is mostly always steel / shred / short iron. Read old threads about non-magnetic metals and ewaste (and how to sort them), but don't forget that they generally have absolutely no tolerance for contamination (screw / iron / foreign material).

I don't know much about steel but i do work at a gas station. Regular gas jumped twenty cents to $ 4.60 last week. It took a ten cent jump to 4.70 yesterday morning.

The pattern every year is that we get a series of price increases on the lead up to Memorial day. Gas prices level off for the summer. They drop a little in the fall and then stay level for the winter.

We're expecting gas to hit $ 5.00 / gal. by Memorial day.

Lets hope that gas prices hit their peak soon. This is causing a lot of hardship for working folks.
