What does everyone think prices will do in Februry? I am thinking they may drop a little (maybe $10/NT in Ontario/Quebec). Tends to happen after a few months of large increase.

I have talk to several buyers . All have said sideway prices at best . Most are saying down $10 per ton .

They have. Just have to find the right yard. Seems like alot of yards aren't passing the increase along. Also wondering if some large yards missed the boat. Went to one the beginning of the week and thier competitors were hauling stuff in.

Confirmed, prices are going to drop. Some locations started dropping already.
As for the price increases, it really does depend where you are and where you go. Some passed it along while others pretended it did not occur at all.

Shred in my area went up to $0.04 /lb .
It may go back to $0.03 /lb, but who knows .
It's really hard to tell what the 2.5 yards in my area will pay on a given day. Usually it's wherever is posted when ya cross the scale !

I am expecting heavy melt in the export regions to drop about $10 a ton. If no oberseas buyers step in, then this could go lower. Areas selling to domestic mills will stay about the same.
Expecting shredded to drop $10 to $20 in most, if not all regions.
Price drops could happen before the end of the month, if dealers fill thier orders early.

The one big yard in Albany, NY that had passed along the 3 recent monthly price increases, lowered prices this AM by $15 per GT for all ferrous. Volume into this yard since the most recent increase has been extraordinary. My guess, in regards to the price drop, is that they now have enough material on the ground to fill their January orders from the mills. I am assuming that the mills have either declined additional material (for the month) all together or requested a lower price for additional material. Either way, if the yard has already filled their order, they must protect themselves against probable lower prices that will be negotiated during the February buy week
For anyone else that saw the price increases from the last three months, be prepared for the upcoming price drops.

I think with this new executive order for US steel to be used in the pipeline, we may see steel rise. I'm hopefully optimistic at least.

I think short term, we are going to see more drops. There are articles on AMM (sorry, don't have a subscription) about east coast ferrous export prices falling significantly. This will have a big impact on shred prices in the ohio valley area as exporters attempt to move thier shred thier. Heavy melt in the Ohio valley should not see as much pressure as export heavy melt is too dirty to sell domestically.

The Wall will be made from precast concrete, rebar, heavy wire mesh or possibly even cable for reinforcement.
About the time I was weaned from the teat the automobile industry used very little plastic but the trend today is PLASTIC.
Lighter vehicles relates to fuel economy, less emissions.
