Steel prices Port of Albany, NY

Got a text message and facebook update on price increases today. Called to check it out. All grades are up. Asked specifically about light iron / shred and Drums and rotors. $100/ gt and $155 / gt respectively.

that is kind of a middle of the road price especially delivered directly to a port, with a little volume you should be able to push that... or someone is late with a load, and they are offering all their margin to move the containers/barge now. I recommend trying to negotiate a little

P.S. it is odd that both the shred and the rotor prices have went up since they have different destinations could be a sign of some future relief for you, I would definitely try and talk to someone in the know about what is going on in that market

All steel prices went up. Those were the ones I specifically asked about. Prices went up at all 17 of there locations, not just the albany yard. Their shred is trucked 2 hours from there to be shredded.

Heard a little blurb somewhere the other day that China has bumped up their infrastructure building for this year, so maybe a factor in uptick in pricing.
