I'd say the magic number is 300#'s, but one of our buyers could speak to that fact better. Freight can get down in the .20-.30 range quickly from there. Of course your paying for the weight of the pallet and such, but it still works out much better! Best of luck. Laptops add weight very fast...

The last pallet loads that I shipped ended up costing only seven cents per pound.

Agreed- talk to our "Resident Freight Shipper". For More than Scrap Value items, I know of buyers who reimburse, but I can't think of any that do for scrap items. Sorry if you're a buyer who does- I just didn't know. Don't shoot!
I sent a pallet from Wyoming to Ohio a while back- it was about $0.30 per pound to ship, and that was a long trip!

I asked what the rate would be for various weights. I ended up have 6000 pounds on 5 pallets.
When I found out what the rates were, I was able to determine that I could profitably send power supplies, flat panel monitors, wire and ac adapters. (along with boards, laptops, etc.) The load also included 1500 pounds of hard drives. A couple of the pallets were Gaylord boxes and the rest were odd boxes that I was able to stretch wrap tight enough to keep things secure.
I don't have a outlet locally that comes close to what I netted after freight. In my instance, this was the option that was best for me. It won't work for everyone.
