Well, I just keep having scrap dumped in my lap. I'm not complaining, I just keep having to go to the yard. Went to breakfast this morning and the neighbor had a fridge, two washers, a microwave and pots and pans. I loaded up and todadump, todadump, todadump, todadump dump dump...

4 cents a lb. for steel. They told me to throw my electrical ballasts with the steel. A week ago I only got 3.5 cents/lb.

River Metals Recycling in Ferguson/Somerset ky
    Prices as of today

    #1 copper....$2.13
    #2 copper.....$2.86
    Insulated copper #2.....$0.31
    Clean aluminum sheet.....$0.30
    Clean 10/10.....$0.61
    Cans.....$0.42
    A/c radiators/ heatsinks.....$0.89
    Cast alum.....$0.42
    Wheel weights.....$0.15
    Clean lead.....$0.29
    Electric motor...$0.13
    Copper bearing/transformer..$0.12
    Christmas lights.....$0.14
    Aluminum wheels...$0.61
    Irony aluminum.....$0.11

    Short steel.....$140/nt
    long steel.....$110/nt
    Tin/shred.....$90/nt
    heavy breakage cast.....$115/nt

These are my prices as of today. I get an extra 5 cents on the pound on non ferrous and $10 /ton extra on ferrous. Even with that, prices still suck.

Plus they are giving 10 cents a pound for all escrap. I take the boards out of stuff, any low grade stuff goes to them. I even take the boards off of hard drives and other disk drives. They get the drives with no boards. That's better than shred and better than irony aluminum prices.

Also, car bodies are $115/nt. If I come across a car, I usually fill it to the brim with any and everything I can find that would be shred,( they will buy it all as car bodies).

I would write home, write to strangers, write to the pope and whomever if it were back to 150/ton here. I have only seen that once since I started this side gig back in March of this year.
