What kind of prices you folks getting lately for #1 insulated cooper wire.
Trying to figure what my 83lbs trash can of copper wire might be worth.

Latest price I have is Feb 9th - $1.35/lb for Insulated Wire. But it's not #1 unless it's stripped.
People may laugh at me, but that's ok. I laugh all the way to the bank.

    Thanks Mick for the reply.
The wire is 12 gauge or heavier insulated solid wire.

    Still, to get #1 price...

This is my yard's definition of #1: "#1 Copper - stripped wire strands there are bigger than a number two pencil lead. "

    #1 is $3.25

Just called and went to $3.35 this morning.

    Insulated Copper Wire is $1.40

I brought in about 3500 pounds of copper wire last saturday. I got 2.90 for the insulated wire. It had 2 coatings on it the first coating was easy to strip the second was molded on and was a pain to get off. I stripped one container of it and just left the rest. The copper was 1" thick and the coating was 1/2" thick. For the bare bright I got $4.05 per LB. for and there was a tin coating on the first strand of wire which I took off and got 3.65 per LB. for. altogether I got over $10,700 for it!!!

There is a scrap yard in downtown houston area that will strip your wire for you for free and pay you #1 BB copper too, but the wire has to be 1 awt or greater

I think some are confused, 2 types of insulated wire, light insulated or insulated cable which at my yard is pinky sized or bigger insulated - about a buck more a pound than light insulated
