    Copper Prices

Been stripping alot of wire for the copper to make some extra change.

Had 44 lbs last time i went in about a month or so ago, Got $2.60 lb for #2.

Called in today just to see if i could get a heads up on the price for #2. Since i figure thats what thier going to say i got. Its about half power wire used for car amplifiers and the rest just other electrical wire.

He gave me a quote of $1.45 lb for #2.

I truley hope this is bull****.

    Anybody got thoughts on this?

Wow thats crazy, I aient never knew that. I know alot of people who scrap out here never heard of anybody getting in trouble for it.

I usually go to the burbs to scrap yards anyways, Alot of these Detroit yards are shady. Go to scrap some metal and come back and your cars gone.

I plan on going in person to the yard tommoro and getting a quote, Im not letting them even weigh it before i get a price because they usually weigh it and send you on your way before you get the price. So if its a decent price closer to the $2.60 lb i got last time i sell it, Otherwise ill find another yard.

I jus wondered if copper really dropped that much.

DON'T bother with Iron Mike!! Seriously. I am not kidding. You will never, ever, ever, EVER get the prices he lists. Ok, I am done with that.

Also, it sounds like they might have quoted you for #2 insulated wire. Guys at the scrap yard are doing 50 things at once and maybe gave you the insulated price instead of bare wire.

^Good to know, That Iron Mike is a bit out of my way anyways. I reside in Southwest Detroit. So thats a lil cruise for me.

Thats what my guess was too, That it may have been a quote for insulated. I called up and asked what thier paying for #2 copper wire and he said that, I literally made a 'phew' sound when he said it n told him i got $2.60 lb last time like a month ago. And then i told him that it is stripped not insulated and he seemed in a real rush wanting to get off the phone and told me 'Well bring it in buddy we'll take a look at it' and hung up.

Ill update tommoro with what happens. I cant see taking anything less then $2.20 a lb, And only that low cuz im trying to get some extra money in to buy this smart phone thats on sale before the sales over so i can have more avenues to make money having the smart phone.

Went to the yard today, Got $2.40 a lb. Dude even let 1 lb of scraps i had gathered on from the ground that had some dust and insulation bits n what not slide and just added it to the rest of the pile. Asked the price before i even took the copper out the car.

Copper last summer by me was paying $2.70-$2.75 for #2. I like to watch mad money every night for the copper prices, the yard I go to is typically 90 cents-$1 less than what is quoted on the show. Tonight it was showing $3.02 scared the heck out of me. I've got about 26 lbs. and I'm at a loss to sell or not because right now I don't have much else to bring to the yard, and at the same time I really like going to the yard. I'm like a kid in a candy store.

It's been a long summer so far

I tried a different yard today got 2.20#, best price in my area for BB copper, so if you are getting more then I did you are doing pretty good first the metal prices dropped and killed me now copper is burying me. Might have to stick to UBC always more profitable here in AZ no matter what.

I've been doing this about year and a half now and this is the second summer I've seen copper prices drop considerably. Is that just a normal thing to have happen during summer? I figure more people scrapping when weather is warm probably knocks demand down a bit. I got $2.63 about a month ago and got $2.39 last week for #2. Thinking of just stockpiling during summer and taking copper in sometime around october.

If we can effect the demand for gold it might bring up our copper. Everyone, BUY GOLD BULLION, buy physical gold. The reality is there isn't enough physical gold to supply the worlds demands. Buy GOLD and SILVER.
