We're a bottle deposit state so the aluminum beverage containers are worth a nickel each. I was curious, so i weighed up a bunch last week and it worked out that they're paying about 1.20 / lb . to the scrappers.

Plastic beverage containers vary quite a bit because large liquor bottles are a heavy thick plastic and 500ml water bottles weigh very little. Maybe .30 to 1.50 / lb depending on the bottle ?

We have whole pickup truck loads come into our redemption center on a regular basis. One of the guys i work with makes an extra 150.00 $ a month from picking up bottles on the side of the road.

I sold some cans today, a boot load full.
    Got NZ$8.40 for 14 Kgs @ NZ$0.60/Kg. ( Used to be NZ$1/Kg )

    Also sold
    Stainless steel. 4Kg @ NZ$0.90/Kg = NZ$3.60
    Copper burnt #2 8Kg @ NZ$6.40/Kg = NZ$51.20
    Alum dom 6Kg @ NZ$0.70/Kg = NZ$4.20
    Alum Ex. 7Kg @ NZ$1.30 = NZ$9.10

Our Aluminium prices have dropped a lot from my standard average of NZ$1/Kg
    & Ali ex @ NZ$1.50/Kg

    Coppers still good.

Interesting. I got $0.20 for sheet/cast/mixed alum today, I think the same place has aluminum cans at $0.22/lb..... Interesting that they would quit buying them all-together.

Last time I took cans in it was $.15/lb. All the aluminum was that price too. Small one man yard, sells to the bigger yards. Always has better can prices than the bigger yard in the woods or the other recycling companies in the area.

I remember 25 years ago I was getting $.40-55/lb when Reynolds had those semi trailers in the back parking lot of grocery stores.
