Down to $170/ton and I was warned of another $50/ton drop by the end of the week in Colorado. Local mill in Pueblo is not buying at all..zero. That is unprecedented for us. So it all gets shipped now. I am thinking a stabilization at around $100/ton. Odd,fast drops in shred prices, there must be some news coming that is not so good...

What's crazy is that I quit buying any ferrous metal three weeks ago. Still getting calls and emails to just "get rid of it". Got a load Friday and going back to get the rest of it tomorrow. It's going on the pile and waiting for prices to go back up. Sorted out the aluminum gutters, aluminum wiring and copper pipes.
People may laugh at me, but that's ok. I laugh all the way to the bank.

last time i was at the yard, it had fallen to $0.8/lb which is $160/ton. Sigh. I just hope it does not drop to $0.05/lb. Aluminum cans have dropped from $0.75/lb to $0.45/lb.

Copper, Brass, Bare Bright, #2 Insulated, #2 .... ALL of it is falling.

    Happy Scrappin!!!

I also am not going to buy any ferrous for a week or 2, and I will have to be very conservative on all other metals. These kind of drops can be great opportunities to stock pile and get more "freebie" metals. I would start hording heavy iron, electric motors, and insulated Cu wire, maybe cats as well. Keep the light shred,Al, etc. moving to keep generating income. Then, one day, you can hit it big, pay off the mortgage and take a 1/2 day off (then back to work!).

Still $140/ton at the yard I trade with here in Central FL. With the price dropping fast the wanna be scrappers are dropping out as well. I picked up 4 more contracts today alone and plan to hit other various shops in the morning.

The yard was **** near empty of shred and only a few junk cars. I was scaled in, offloaded and scaled out in under 20 minutes since there wasn't anyone to get in my way!

The one upside to prices being poor, no one to contend with at the yard.

I took in a load of non-ferrous yesterday to Western scrap in Colorado Springs and everything is down about %20. AL products are in the $.40 to $.50 range, Al cast wheels down to .60. Lead batteries down to $.25. Electric motors down to $.25. Bright CU $2.87. Insulated wire $1.00 to 1.30, Brass $1.80. I get paid a bit better due to my volume so counter customers will be lower. Shred was at $160/ton..that may change today.

Sheet iron down to $170.00 a ton by me. I was going to hold the small amount of steel I have but found a water heater today, NOT going to unload it and store it in the yard so I guess I will load up the other steel and be done with it! .07 or .115 a pound It is still free money!

One of the bigger yards in the Boston area that always posted all there prices , now has them disabled ?
    Another is advertising 07 / 11 / 12 that they are paying $ 160 a ton ( .08 /Lb. ) for scrap cars .

Our yard up here is currently $175.00 ton and is still tumbling. The yards have contracted out trucking companies to ship out their stuff out faster.
We all know what that means.......
My family is fortunate enough to have another that compliments our scrap company. We operate both companies at the same time. Scrap in the truck and our other stuff in the trailer.
So when prices are down on scrap, we really rely upon our other company.

I'm leaning towards seeing prices going back up soon. Not a whole lot but oil is climbing slowly, more cargoes are being booked overseas. Im hoping for a small rebound soon.
