Displaying "last active time" for scrap buyer threads

There are opinions going both ways on the new feature to include the "last active time" on scrap buyer threads here on the forum.

The main purpose of this would be so members and guests could determine if a particular buyer has been inactive for an extended period of time before trying to buy from or sell to them.

Please post your opinions or suggestions on the matter in this thread, and vote in the poll.

I only can suggest trying to contact said buyer before shipping any items.......If no response from said buyer then move on to next buyer.......

ive played online rpg games in the past...on alot of them beside a players name it would say inactive for xxxx amount of days...if they would log in it would dissapier.....im not sure how hard it would be to do that , as i know nothing about how hard it is to modify pc programs to cause this to happen.....

i would think it would be a good idea...especially for the people who are just starting out as new buyers

I think people come and go.. I believe that active and contributing members are far more likely to be "in business" and reliable as an active buyer.

I think this would negatively effect buyers who only buy local.

Click on their name, then "view profile" and scan down and it'll say for example; "for wadarbr549, he was active at 7:28 this morning".

I think it's a fantastic idea. Not only would it be easier and quicker for a seller to find a buyer; but it would push buyers to frequent the forums more often. Increased traffic, accurate pricing, more competition.

yes buyers should HAVE to be active here...you can't just make a thread and off you go...what if someone had a question and you aren't around (then you look like an idiot and no one will buy from you...rightly so)...plus it PROTECTS sellers here because they will KNOW if someone is around or not (confidence builder). Really I think that buyers posts with >30 days no show on the buyer should be deleted...keeps out the crap you know...we want GOOD buyers AND sellers...not have to deal with a bunch of flakes that take your stuff (going through that right now in fact with a buyer from the buyers thread).
PROFIT is made when you BUY/ACQUIRE NOT when you sell

Not sure you can kick them off as they payed for the ad... so last time active looks like it should help. Again I feel if the member is active he or she will get more business. And not just active in there own buy sell area, if they contribute to the forum it is very likely people will want to sell them there stuff!

don't see any reason not to kick an ad off if inactive for 30 days...again you DON'T want people sending stuff or using it as a "good ad" when it isn't...fair is fair...you pay, but you have to show up every 30 days AT LEAST...if not delete it...sorry not a good thing to put up an ad and then wanted off into the ether when people have $$$ at stake.

I love this idea feature. I remember when a buyer a long time ago use to talk about how much he contributed to this forum and wondered why people would support a buyer who wasnt as active as them. When it comes to scrap we all want the most we can get for our stuff with the best service possible. I think this feature will help people see at a quick glance if the buyer is here supporting the forum or not. Just like the posts and thanks counter shows how active anyone is on this forum.

Time for the terms to change....NO reason to give some knucklehead (and I am speaking from experience from an A$#HAT buyer in the buyers thread that hasn't paid me), carte blanche to make an ad, not support it and have someone send stuff to them and never pay...this is at LEAST a bit of help in that area...so again should be a NO A$%HAT zone, ESPECIALLY in the buyers section since people tend to give it a bit of weight

Due to all the feedback, this feature has been enabled. Buyers now have a "buyer last online" field on their threads.

I am a buyer and a seller on the forum.
I chose buyers by the feedback they receive from fellow SMF members.
Last active field? I like it!
