Big Update and Improvements for Buyers and Sellers

We've been working on a way to make the Buyers & Sellers section more user-friendly and easy to navigate.

Within the next week or so, members and guests will be able to find forum buyers specifically based on WHAT THEY'RE SELLING and WHAT YOU'RE BUYING.

If you have a buyer or seller thread here on the forum and want to benefit from this new "SMF Buyer Finder" feature, you will need to update your thread with the appropriate TAGS.

Each tag represents something you are offering to buy or sell in your buyer/seller thread. Members and guests will be able to select from this list of items (tags) and view only relevant forum buyers instead of searching the list one by one.

Above is the current list of available tags you may add to your threads to be found in the new upcoming SMF Buyer Finder feature, which will be featured at the top of the Buyers and Sellers section of the forum. If you're a registered member you can see a DEMO of this new feature above this thread. The live version will contain clickable links leading to their relevant threads.

Make sure to update your Buyer threads with any applicable tags found below as soon as possible so when this becomes active you won't miss out.

For specific instructions on how it works and inclusion, go here http://www.scrapmetalforum.com/smf-s...r-threads.html

Additionally, updates have been made to thread promotions, thread title is now included on confirmation page after clicking the bump button, and will also be included on the receipt email.

Nope, your thread will show up for any of the tags listed if you add them to your thread.

If you did want to post additional threads for separate offers, and different tags, that is fine.

I was wondering if this has decreased the bump rate for the threads in the buyers section. I bump my thread when I get to a level that I see it fit to do. However this is not necessary now that if you click on what I buy I am included in a much shorter list of buyers that may have never bumped there thread.

I buy Tantalum Capacitors and offer other services. Check out my thread for more info.

It looks to me that it puts you into a specified group that the "seller" is looking for, getting rid of the fluff.

It may have decreased bumps a bit, but honestly I don't know. I haven't even thought to check because members bumping or not bumping their threads wasn't my concern. The goal of this feature was purely to make it easier for members and guests to find a buyer, by allowing members to tag their threads with what they buy. Like Mech said, without the fluff.

However there is still a ton of traffic that uses the main page exclusively and those top threads get by far the most attention. So just to clarify there is definitely new business to be obtained by bumping your thread regardless of already being near or at the top of your category. And also the top buyer and seller threads are listed high on the homepage so that makes a difference too.
