A lot of the smaller scales can't accommodate larger loads. For example, I have a scale that I only use for shipping. It is accurate to 0.1 ounces, but it cannot weigh anything over 120#. At the scrap yards I've gone to, even the smaller scales are only accurate to the nearest pound.

We do, there are two smaller scales, one is down to tenth of an ounce the other is a jeweler scale in my office that reads .01 gram... oh and our 300lb mobile scale reads tenth pound.

    O.K!

So we traveled to Wisconsin to sell some of our scrap and when we got there it was a legit business.
Scale is just like the industrial scales used by scrap yards and 99% of the industrial scales used in this type of business has a 1 pound resolution.
You will be paid by the pound so weigh your materials at exactly no point extra specially your rams and higher grade materials if you don't feel like giving away half a pound or so which I dont think is really a big deal when your selling lower grades of scrap.
Transaction was fast, and cash paid on the spot, prices are also good specially when you are an hour or 2 away from his location.
He may not have prices that are as good as you can see on a website but if you are local and you are trying to consider the cost of shipping or travel expenses his prices are actually better.

So that WAS my experience with MUD, and hope to do more business with you soon KEN!

I am waiting for the prices to go up a little
We have at least four different scales to use at the warehouse. Our large scale is certified and weighs in one pound increments. We use this primarily since it is certified. We also have smaller scales that will weigh down to 0.1 ounce. They aren't certified, but work well for small amounts. You brought in a large quantity of memory so I used the large certified scale. If you would have brought in a couple pounds or less, I would have used the smaller scale. I can always use the smaller scale at your request, keeping in mind it is not certified, as it weighs up to 80 pounds and counts to 0.1 ounce. I have another scale that will weigh up to 600 pounds at a 0.05 pound increment. It isn't certified either, but we can be used at the customer's request.

Yes, as Mikeinreco alluded to, I try to be professional about it. Thanks Mike!

And thanks, Ron, for your business. I look forward to you coming by again.

I have a couple of clients looking for Li-Ion laptop battery scrap. If you have some you are willing to part with and wouldn't mind shipping, please let me know. I'm offering $1.00/lb. If you have a large amount, we can go to $1.10/lb.

    Thanks!

In your opinion what is the best way to ship the Li-Ion laptop batteries? I have a a few boxes (medium flat rate size) full I'd ship to you - but not sure what the most cost efficient way would be.

You can check total weight and send FedEx Ground or use the flat rate boxes. I'd also try to get large flat rate boxes as you can get more in them, but then the risk of breaking the box is higher than using mediums. I have had boxes with 40 to 45 in large flat rate boxes and usually on 18 to 25 in the mediums when people mail to me. Regardless, use the strong mesh tape if you have it. It will help hold the boxes together if you ship USPS.

Thanks, everyone, for the great response on the Li-Ion batteries. I have 3 or 4 folks sending to me. I can still use more.

Also, I'm in need of about 250 pounds of gold tipped memory. I'm willing to pay $12/lb for this. Can any of you help me out? PM me if you have memory you'd be willing to part with for $12/lb. This post will be edited when I reach 250 pounds of memory committed to be mailed.

    Thanks!
