Silver contact?
Morning all.
I was hoping someone would be able to help identify if the item pointed at in the picture would be silver. It's non magnetic (don't have a magnet big enough to let it slide down), and it's ductile (not brittle like I would expect if it was aluminium).
-
easiest thing to do is cut it in half with side cutters... lots of time when I get them, they are brass or copper on the inside....
-
Thanks! Looks silvery-ish all the way through. I've read a couple of articles about making some testing solution, so I might look into that to be sure. It's going in the "maybe" pile!

Bend it in the middle back & forth untill it breaks.
Then have a look at the broken end. I expect that its Silver coated Copper & if its got a Silver contact on it like i expect it has.
Then it will be soldered or spot welded to it.
Could you show photos of the other metal bits in that connector/contactor please?

So looks like there's a bit of brass color at the bottom half of the contact after bending it till it broke - tried to take a picture, hard to get the details.
The other picture is the only other part of that contactor : the picture on the first post had everything that was in that thing.

That thing with a screw in it is a saddle clamp used to grasp the electrical wire unto the bussbar.
Theres probably contacts somewhere else in the unit.
After edit
Im now thinking that this has no contacts in it at all. That its just a single unit that sits beside a row of these in a machine or something any the ínput wires go into the bottom of it & the machine part wires go into the top of it.
