Anyone know what these things are, round #2 (other things this time)....

Have about 10 of these..... they are non-magnetic, about 1 inch x 2 inch x 5 inch, and HEAVY for their size. didnt weigh it yet, but it feels about 5lbs. I thought when I was looking at it and when I hit it with the magnet it was aluminum, but when I picked it up it is WAY to heavy to be aluminum. The guy I got them from said he thinks they were spare parts for film projectors (the film runs through this part somehow)


My question is, what material is this? Its looks like aluminum, but is way to heavy. Could be stainless maybe but doesnt look like any stainless Ive ever seen. Any clues?

From the 2nd pic I would say its lead. Stab it with a screwdriver and see if its soft

That makes a lot of sense.... I had thought lead as magnetic off the top of my head but googling now says other wise. I bet you are right that it is lead. Neat!

I'm guessing zinc also. But Aluminum can also be heavy when in a solid piece like that.

Wrong color for aluminum

Looks like die cast zinc to me too. Much more dense than aluminum, harder than lead.

It is definitely cast something, prolly zinc.

Since it is cast break a piece off and look at the break. If zinc, it will be obvious just from the way it broke and the way it looks.
