DVD trays I leave the motor and low grade boards on. Plastic face plates I leave the board and a bit of wire on. VHS with plastic trays all i pull off is the vhs head and the transformer leaving the big low grade board and metal thing with all the plastic gears.
Since they take plastic tub dishwashers with motor and wiring removed I try to keep the metal to plastic ratio above what that would be which isn't too hard considering all there is, is a light sheet metal base, bracket running up the back side and 2 plastic coated wire racks inside.
Really if you think about it a refrigerator stripped of it's compressor, copper and wiring is mostly plastic, insulation and glass shelves with just a skin of thin sheet iron.
