Secondary hauler for car dealerships

I've been meaning to throw this up here for a while. When it comes to finding new regular pickup spots competition is still pretty tough. Even with prices down. Most places, especially car dealerships and auto repair places usually have "a guy" they've been using for years. My brother works in the parts dept of a dealership and when I started telling him about how I'm getting into ewaste, he told me they've been throwing that kind of stuff in the dumpster for years cause their regular metal guy doesn't deal with it. Everything from the ecu's/bcu's to the radios to the clocks in the dash. Since, he's been bringing me home a pretty good sized box of stuff about every 2 to 3 weeks. So when you go out cold calling and they tell you they have a metal guy already, ask about the ewaste. It just might get you another regular pickup spot.

I'd be curious to know if scrapping that kind of stuff is worthwhile ... what the value would be. I decided for myself that scrapping any home audio equipment and dvds or vcrs just doesn't pay. Has anybody taken apart a car computer? Would love to see what's in them.

I have been taking apart a few air bag modules, I assume the car computers are the same. A few tants, flat packs, and some monos. Nothing super special.

I run a used car lot, and all the old repair parts from reconditioning get scrapped. I separate into maybe 20 diff piles. It is worth it if you get the stuff for free like I do. We also scrap the junk cars as well, but they pay more as we sell them to a u pull and pay type. Still my favorite is all the wire, #2 and easy to get to.

Here is an Automotive computer it is a high grade board its from an 1990's Ford Ranger ECM. They are hard to get into since some of them have glue on them so don't be fooled by the weight of some, this one is an example of a computer that does not have the glue substance. I wish I could find a computer with glue in it to show you what I mean.

P.S. I don't know if any one has come a cross a way to take the glue off of them. I have heard that people just warm it up and melt the glue off.
