My old label printer died on me a few weeks ago and I've been using the inkjet printer since then. Since I've used two black ink cartridges I have decided to buy a new label printer. I was wondering if anyone here has bought one recently? I have looked on a couple of web sites and the variety is very overwhelming. Basically I'm looking for a thermal printer to print shipping label exclusively, average size shipping label.
I'm using a Dymo label printer for the PC
It works with no problems
My freind uses one for his ebay shipping. He had problems getting it to work with ebay and/ PayPal shipping. Once it was figured out it has had additional problems. If I was asking the questions and ebay/paypal was at least part of what I was using it for I would ask if anyone has used one successfully with them.
I am in the market for a printer as well and it will be for ebay/paypal shipping and have avoided it up to now due to my friend's difficullty. He did get ebay to help him but they seems very inexperienced with his issue.
So to pile onto your questions has anyone had sucess using a thermal printer priinting shipping labels for ebay sales? Any tips on software, issues with which

I dont use a thermal printer for my shipping labels just a laser printer i was going to scrap. It needed a little bit of work bit it is still kicking 2 years later. I buy labels from ebay.
Honestly I don't ever ship thru paypal or ebay.
I use my stamps.com account and print with my zebra thermal printer from their site and have no issues. I can also keep better track of how much I am putting into my shipping expenses that way by keeping it completely separate and still get the same rates that I would any other "discounted" way. doesn't take but a couple seconds to copy and paste the tracking number into your ebay sale. A lot less time than trying to get something working with their site just to print labels thru them.
Interesting that you bring up stamps.com as I get an offer from them quite frequently but usually dismiss it. Do they charge you monthly a fee?
An additonal question is there any difference between using Explorer, Firefox, Crome? Mike
Can these printers also print UPC's to put on products? Or are they mainly used for shipping labels? Sorry to add to the barrage of questions!
This memo is from an unnamed computer company. It went to all field engineers about a computer peripheral problem. The author of this memo was quite serious. The engineers rolled on the floor.
Mouse balls are now available as FRU (Field Replacement Unit) therefore, if a mouse fails to operate or should it perform erratically, it may need a ball replacement. Because of the delicate nature of this procedure, replacement of mouse balls should only be attempted by properly trained personnel. Before proceeding, determine the type of mouse balls by examining the underside of the mouse. Domestic balls will be larger and harder than foreign balls.
Ball removal procedures differ depending upon the manufacturer of the mouse. Foreign balls can be replaced using the pop off method. Domestic balls are replaced by using the twist-off method.
Mouse balls are not usually static sensitive. However, excessive handling can result in sudden discharge.
Upon completion of ball replacement, the mouse may be used immediately. It is recommended that each replacer have a pair of spare balls for maintaining optimum customer satisfaction. Any customer missing his balls should suspect local personnel of removing these necessary items.
I use Firefox or Chrome. I Never use IE. The label printer won't care, though. I just don't like IE.
I personally use an HP LaserJet 4100 that I got during one of my collections. But, I set up a Dymo system for another eBay seller in our town.
He swears by it.

Yes, they'll do bar codes (Most will). A barcode is just a font, basically. The software that comes with the lable printer should have a "barcoding font". Just remember to make sure that the software will work on your computer. Most do fine on either Windows or Mac. If you use Linux like I do, though, setting up a thermal printer can be anywhere from easy to a nightmare.
I have a box full of these printers does anyone have any interest........I tried briefly to configure one to EBAY with no success..........(Didn't spend but a few minutes on it and moved on).........Got them to print but not to Re-Size the image .....Oh well I was going to pull them out and list on Ebay I guess (Anyone interested SEND me A PM)

No complaints against Zebra - for everything we've used them for in the past they've been great. Just need the right label for this specific situation.
I do IT work and we have multiple clients using Zebra label printers. They seem like good little workhorses as after I get them configured with a static IP, I never hear about them again. No idea on the price but in the nearly four years I've yet to had to do any maintenance on them.
Myself, I just print out my labels on a laser printer and stick them into a pouch on the package
