CU rounds seems to be the better bad investment - unless the nickel is recaptured or if CU NI alloy has special use.
I cant call a IKE bad , Since I started sorting pennies I don't look at dates I drop em listen & go fast as you must know the zinc pennies have a dull sound when they hit a table compared to Copper.
the IKE sounds so nice you here the copper as you can with quarters and such . If one day base metals become to valuable / not like silver but just cost to much to make coins out of like pennies . then zinc will be next up & then all copper coins will be horded as Gresham's law will prevail
When a government compulsorily overvalues one type of money and undervalues another, the undervalued money will leave the country or disappear from circulation into hoards, while the overvalued money will flood into circulation." It is commonly stated as: "Bad money drives out good", but is more accurately stated: "Bad money drives out good if their exchange rate is set by law."
All our CU NI coins are still good we really just don't realize it yet. Sort of like a credit card
first your upset cause you have a $1,200.00 balance 3 years later the balance is $14,000.00
and you wish it was $1,200.00 cause .......................
One thing the IKE has over the CU rounds - is it is worth a $1 here and now and the purchase price is close , & if copper ever hits the roof Ike's will have more value from the CU NI content also
