So much stuff, so very grateful!

I unloaded a whole truck load (53' dry van) of telecom stuff today. This stuff added to the stuff I already had has filled my shop. I will be working around the clock for a while now. I am going to have to build another building. I have filled 6000 sq ft of floor space and barely have room left for gaylord boxes.

Folks I will be 100% honest with you right now. I work my rear end off and always try to do the next right thing by other people and my own family. I was grateful to have my Dad and my Nephew help help me unload the truck. As of now I will be processing it myself with some family help here and there. (They come unasked after their own regular jobs to help).

I have an extensive computer background, but I know very little about telecom stuff. The funny thing is my Dad worked for the telephone company for 40 years and himself installed some of this stuff years ago.

Some of the boards are new. The 2 pallets that are as wide as the trailer are all new boards.

I just took a few pictures to give you some idea of what is going on here. I will add more pictures along the way.

If anyone has any suggestions feel free to post them here or PM me. I generally check here every morning or late at night.

Most of this stuff is older NORTEL stuff.

Also if anyone wants certain pictures of certain things feel free to ask.

Nice load. Where did you get the lead on it from?

The guy that owns the company replacing the equipment got a hold of me through my local scrap yard and we arranged for me to process it for a 60/40 split of all proceeds with the transportation for both of us coming off the top. His expense to get it to me and my expense to get the boards to Ohio to the buyer from this forum I will be dealing with. I get the 60%. Good deal or not? I guess I don't know yet...LOL

Yeah u can't hardly lose with that split and taking all expenses off the top is a good idea...........Good deal

time to get some quick pallet racks rigged up so you can go verticle with some of the gaylords or skids to maximize what space you have available above the floor

You need a nortel buyer up there quick. I guess lots of guys would want your "problem". I suggest speed. You might even work a deal with your yard for things not completely torn down, where you get better than shred, and they complete the teardown with their own crew for the remaining scrap gravy

Those big racks look like it came out of a call center of some sort.

turn and burn. i would strip off the boards enough to fill a gaylord or two and ship them out. at the same time take the steel in to the local yard. you might lose by sending in a "small" load, but it will free up room in your place to work around and organize yourself. I find i'm less productive when i have a full work area because i cant concentrate on just 1 thing. good luck to you!

Yea probably a hundred pounds of gold plated pins / metal there. But its gonna take alot of man hours to get it. good luck with it

I have looked into the NORTEL angle a bit, but time is not on my side. It does take a lot of time to research these things. A lot of the boards I have are still in the boxes they came in. But on the other hand a lot of the boxes are date for overnight delivery in 1993 through 1997. These units were still online until recently though. It is a hard call, especially since there is soooo very much that every moment I put off puts me farther behind. I would imagine that even telecom stuff reaches an end of life stage. I do know that the folks who replaced it could have cared less. They were just interested in installing their new equipment and told me so.

I'd hope you could find somebody around there who works with it, and already knows what's still worth keeping

I did about 1/3 trailer load 2 winters ago of the EXACT same units... you are going to drool when you see the solid #1 copper bar on the inside of the top boxes.. the boxes that has the whole row of white rocker switchs... Do you have any of the units that have the aluminum block slide in "modules" ? on the inside of those blocks there is 2 layers of circuit boards. there are some gold plated fittings in there and some of the circuit boards have gold circuits and others have boards printed/lamineted to aluminum plates... I dismanteled these for one of the scrap yards I go to... so it was a piece work job... Wish I had more of them, I made good money off those that winter...

If you are talking about the radio controller units, I have around 200 of those. I have taken one apart just to see what was in it, but I have soooo much other stuff to do before i start on those. This stuff has thousands of screws. They are really way over built.
