So what's the biggest load of copper you hauled to scrap? Have any pics? Just curious how much copper you people get. I'm stilling collecting...have probably 75lbs.

I have trouble stashing that much copper. After about 30 or 40 pounds worth I tend to get impatient and cash it in.
I actually took all my stuff in this morning, this is my stash as of now... sadly.

Good stuff those ceiling fans. If I recall the stand up fans also have copper like that in them. Pain in the butt to get out but oh so worth it.

I had 2 1/2 tons of #1 copper pipe i got out of a demo job of mine, brought it to scrap yard, people looked at me like I was a rockstar and the crackheads were drooling. Sadly it was only $0.98/lb at the time
Last week we took 82,000 pounds to the smelter. 2,000 pounds per 55 gallon drum. Took us a month to finish that job.

One thing that people seem to forget...copper can get down to .48 lb....thats what they claim is cost to produce from ore.
I just turned in 62 lbs of copper pipe. It was from a weeks WORTH of 2 boiler removals I did for my furnace guy. Plus I had 30ish lbs of brass cut off the copper. 22 lbs bare bright. And 30 lbs of wire. This was all from a week or 2 or collecting. The wire was over a month or 2.

750 lbs of #1 bright bare for me.
33 gallon of #2/ 5 gallon bucket #1. Mountain of wire.
400 lbs of number 2..50 lbs of bb..n best yet, raked 60 lbs of number 1 from the tanks at work..yes I was geting paid to do to rake the tanks...score
What is with the color on the windings? Is it all copper? I recently tore down two cieling fans for the first time & one had red-coated windings & the other had near purple-coated windings.Quote:

I just cashed in my copper stash on Sunday. 190-some odd pounds at $2.60 for about $450
I have become a little paranoid lately, so i am thinking should i take pics , Yet for 3 years i have worked a system to sell off the good stuff as little as possible . Yet I feel I earned the chance to have a little enjoyment to share what I have done . I might go for it, in the mean time
I had a demo job that I did my thing with coated wire and was cashing in at jobs end, 400 lb or so & lots of brass that i regret selling. I had to share 40 % to 50 % of value , as of now I have stuff.
I am like 3 different people - Mr. people #1 is relaxing with this post - Mr. people #2 Hunts and forages for all that is copper & I will stop for any metal * ANY * it is all a gift not to be passed up on says Mr. people #2 - Mr. people #3 has to deal with what Mr. people #2 finds and has to dismantle it for the end result of categorized metals . Well Mr. people #3 is having a hard time keeping up with what #2 finds
Might get around to taking pictures today for you.
Mine for right now, is just several copper yokes, 1 or 2 things of copper wheels from ceiling fans, a bunch of degaussing cable copper.
That is generally where I get it from and keep stashing it.
Depending on the size of it, it will get turned in right away or if it is small, I will keep storing it until I need cash.
I have nothing as of now.. Cashed in last week for just under $4000.. Glad I did before the price drop, but will probably regret it when prices rise...needed the cash, so what can ya do???? Its kind of depressing to be empty for the 1st time since I began scrappin..however, the buckets and drums will fill again!!!

I got over a pound out of my last ceiling fan motor.

I just took my most last week had about 96lbs of insulated, 16 of #1 and 21 of #2. not to bad for me considering I dont have a stripper
Five years ago I had 13 copier paper boxes full of stripped Romex at 35-40 pounds per box and I think I only got around $1.50 a pound (Don’t quote me on the price). Wish I would of held on to that till now. I like saving it up for a big payoff.

copper stash right now is probably 5 or 6 lbs. I sold 300 lbs back when it was $3.14# That was a good day:)
I do not stash mine long cause half of what I sell I buy silver with and finally now I have surpassed my 2000oz goal with prices were I buy went down to 25.60 which was funny because what end up happening was that to get there fast I traded some higher value dollars I had for an extra %20 on top of book value since I was trading it straight across. normally this would not fly at all but the resale value later will be nice for them. so I took all of my 1oz 10oz and 100oz bars and coins which I will miss opening my safe and saying **** it every time when some fall out even though I stack them well and having two nice shinny 1000oz bars so if that some how falls out will hurt lol
The most I ever made was 82.00 off a tote of#2. right now i am trying to fill a cardborad drum and it is not quarter of the way full and is probably 15 lbs
